Kieran Donaghy is a trainer, conference speaker and author based in Barcelona. He has over 30 years of experience in English language teaching and has extensive experience of designing and delivering courses for teachers. His website Film English has won a British Council ELTons Award for Innovation in Teacher Resources, the most prestigious European media in education prize, the MEDEA Award, and an English-Speaking Union Award. Kieran is the founder and organiser of the only conference exclusively on the use of images in language teaching, The Image Conference. In addition, he is the co-founder and joint co-ordinator of the Visual Arts Circle a professional community of practice for language education professionals interested in the use of the visual arts in language teaching. He is the lead tutor on the Film and Video in Language Teaching and Social and Emotional Intelligence in Language Teaching courses.
Anna Whitcher is a writer, editor, and video producer of ELT materials. With a Master’s in English Composition, she began her career over 20 years ago as an EFL teacher in Riga, Latvia, which led her to her work in publishing. She has taught ESL/EFL and Spanish to teenagers and adults in the US and in Europe. In addition to writing and editing for print and digital products she is a video producer for several courses.
Dr. Sylvia Karastathi is a teacher educator and lecturer in TESOL at the Department of English Language and Language Teaching at New York College, Athens, Greece. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she wrote a thesis on contemporary literature and visual culture, and an MA in Modern Literature and Culture (University of York).
Jade Blue is an English language teacher and trainer based in the UK. She teaches in the UK, Germany and Japan, delivers workshops and seminars in Europe, and is a member of The Visual Arts Circle. Her primary research interests focus on learner-generated visuals in ELT and learner autonomy. Jade works as a research consultant and editor for Cambridge University Press and writes teacher training blog posts and training sessions for Macmillan Education. Jade also writes her own reflective ELT blog, has been published in Voices and English Teaching Professional, and has contributed to a Routledge publication on Reflective Practice in ELT.
